  1. MiniApps
  2. --------
  3. MiniApps brings you twenty five useful applications, all in one install.
  4.  
  5. Alarm
  6. -----
  7. lets you set up to six alarms in a 24-hour period. 
  8. Each can play the sound of a ringing telephone, one time, seven times,
  9. or continuously and display a customizable message when it goes off.
  10. You can choose color, position and save.
  11. You can also set quick alarm, configure it to go off in one
  12. to 99 minutes from current time.
  13. Double click Alarm and select Help from Menu for more help.

  15. AlphaBook
  16. ---------
  17. Click F1 or Help\Help to read about AlphaBook.
  18. AlphaBook saves contents of A to Z and 1 to 3 in 28 RTFs,
  19. All 28 RTFs are saved in the AlphaBook directory, named Alpha(*).rtf,
  20. where  *  is the button names A to Z and 1 to 3.
  21. e.g: AlphaA.rtf, AlphaZ.rtf, Alpha2.rtf.

  23. Type any word in the upper text and it will automatically scroll
  24. to the letters you typed, click Find Next or F3 to find next.
  25. Click File\Sort Alphabetically to sort text in alphabetic order.
  26. Click Buttons\Change Button Name, to change buttons 1, 2 and 3.

  29. AttriBat
  30. --------
  31. If you  restore a backup from MS-DOS, then files that
  32. have the Read-Only, Hidden and System attributes will
  33. not be restored from backup unless you set their attributes
  34. to Normal.
  35. That is also true if you use a DOS unzipping software, they have switches
  36. to restore Hidden, Read Only and System but will not overwrite a 
  37. Read-Only file or folder.
  38. AttriBat.exe will search the hard drive for files and folders that have 
  39. Read-Only, Hidden and System attributes and make 2 batch files.
  40. Click Help\Help or F1 in AttriBat for help.

  42. BlockIt
  43. -------
  44. Win95 only.
  45. BlockIt doesn't work in NT, it can't block the Ctrl+Alt+Del in NT.
  46.  
  47. Once activated, it suppose to cover the whole screen including the Task bar.
  48. Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Alt+Tab and Escape wouldn't work.
  49. While BlockIt is on, if you restart computer by turning the electric switch
  50. off then it will come back on and cover screen.
  51. To be on the safe side, backup registry first because if you got locked
  52. out then you will not be able to get in unless you delete the Lockit.dat in
  53. the BlockIt directory from the Command Prompt Only or restore from
  54. a Registry backup.
  55.  
  56. Once you execute it, double click or right click the gray area and
  57. select Exit  if no password already selected, otherwise you have
  58. to enter password.
  59. To block computer you need to enter password, double click
  60. or right click gray area and select Change password, 
  61. you will be prompted to enter old Password, 
  62. click OK if no old password exist,
  63. you will be prompted again to enter new password, 
  64. there be sure to right down password and enter it (case sensitive).
  65. If you forget password then you will be left out unless you restore as 
  66. explained above.
  67. Suggest to use a simple password to start with.
  68. If you forgot password, BlockIt will let you in the first 10 uses, 
  69. after three times entering password.

  71. Don't worry about it as long you know the password or you didn't 
  72. enter any passwords and remember to double click the gray area.

  75. Calculator
  76. ----------
  77. Is a simple Calculator that views calculation in a scrolling window.
  78. Click Help\Help or F1 in Calculator for help.

  80. Calendars
  81. ----------
  82. There is two calendars supplied, take your pick.
  83. When browsing other months or years, it doesn't change the computer 
  84. date, contrary to the Calendar supplied with the operating system, 
  85. which could get you in trouble if accidentally it changed the computer 
  86. month or year without noticing it.

  88. Click on the year or month to select other years or months.
  89.  
  90. ChangeRes
  91. ---------
  92. Change resolution was made because the old Change resolution found
  93. in the web doesn't work in Win98.
  94. To change Video resolution, depends on font used, video card and 
  95. resolution used, a computer restart is not always necessary.
  96. If you see that ChangeRes requires a restart for every resolution
  97. change then ChangeRes is not the best one for you to use. 
  98. Look for a different one, each behave differently.

  100. Color, RGB Color Converter:

  102. Read color values.
  103. Click Help\Help or F1 in Color for help.

  105. Drive Info
  106. ----------
  107. Select from Combo Box to get summary of each drive, drive info supports
  108. up to 12 hard drives.

  110. Note: This is a new DrvInfo, old DrvInfo that uses MsChart discontinued,
  111. MsChart.ocx no longer needed, you can delete it from the Windows\System
  112. directory if not used by other applications.
  113. There are two Drive info now:
  114. - Drive Info 95, is for Win95 that recognizes hard drives less than 2 GB in size.
  115.  
  116. - Drive Info 95b+, is for Win95/98/NT that recognizes hard drives larger than 2 GB
  117.   in size.
  118.   One day I will try to combine them together.

  120. Files Inventory
  121. --------------
  122. Files Inventory is made so you can have files in a directory
  123. saved in a text or printed.
  124.  
  125. Simply click browse to the directory, select to list in 2 columns or
  126. with date and size and click the List Files button.
  127. Once listed select File\Print or File\Save As to save it in a text.

  129. IcoView
  130. -------
  131. What makes IconView better than any icon viewer is, when you
  132. click the selected icon it views it in the Taskbar and the
  133. Systray. Also you can view all icons in a directory.
  134. Icons looks different if viewed in the Systray, Taskbar selected
  135. or Taskbar not selected.
  136. Click Help\Help or F1 in IcoView for help.

  138. IcView
  139. ------
  140. IcView is different from IcoView.
  141. IcView is a mini single icon viewer,
  142. select Associate IcViewer from MiniApps in the Startmenu,
  143. browse to Icview.exe then click Create Association.
  144. Any time you right click an icon, there will be a View option
  145. in the context Menu.
  146.  
  147. LFN Backup and Restore
  148. ----------------------
  149. Unless you know the LFN(long file names) for every SFN (short file name),
  150. its impossible to guess what the original Long file name is unless
  151. you have a backup that have stored both DOS SFN and Windows LFN
  152. of each file and directory, also knows what the original path, then it can
  153. be restored from backup to the original path by renaming the SFN to LFN.

  156. Make Shortcut
  157. ------------
  158. It makes shortcuts to programs anywhere.
  159. Shortcut recognizes non English installed Win95/98/NT operating
  160. system and makes shortcut to them.
  161. Click Help\Help or F1 in Make Shortcut for help.

  163. Move
  164. ---
  165. Don't under estimate this little utility, it moves large folders,
  166. mutli files and folders.
  167. When you installed MiniApps, it copied a Move.exe shortcut to the
  168. Windows\Sendto folder.
  169. (Windows\Sendto is in English, MiniApps Setup will detect name in all other languages and place Move shortcut to it).

  171. Any time you want to move a file(s) or folder(s),
  172. select file(s) or folder(s) and right click them, select Sendto and select Move from Menu.
  173. There you can select to move selected files or folders or just copy only.
  174. Also there is an option to make a new directory.
  175.  
  176. If you have Win98 or IE40 installed, you can use Move to manipulate
  177. the StartMenu, right click any item in the StartMenu, select SendTo then Move.
  178. In Move, browse to the destination directory, it has to appear in the
  179. To window.
  180.  
  181. MyNotes and MyNotes Lite
  182. -------------------------
  183. MyNotes, MyNotesL and MyNotes Lite.
  184. MyNotes have 15 pages to save notes in, MyNotesL opens the first
  185. two pages of MyNotes for quick open.

  187. MyNotes Lite is a lite version independent on its own, have two note pages
  188. to save notes in.

  191. OCX Fix

  198. Click Open, to browse and open any program you like.

  205. US Area and International calling codes
  206. Type any state name or area code number in the upper left window
  207. and it will scroll down to the country or area code of that state.
  208. Click the Country button, type any of the World's country name or 
  209. country number in the upper left window and it will scroll to the country.

  211. Sort Lines Alphabetically
  212. ------------------------
  213. Sorts text lines alphabetically
  214. Click Help\Help or F1 in AlphaSort for help.

  216. SubInfo
  217. --------
  218. Stays on top and saves all your personal, shareware or company info.
  219. It saves you from having to type info every time with the possibility of
  220. making mistakes.
  221. Once you have entered all information in SubInfo, clicking the button
  222. copies the content of the corresponding text to the clipboard,
  223. all you have to do is paste it in the submission form.

  226. Resources and Swap file Meter(RSFM)
  227. ----------------------------------
  228. Resources Monitor, Clock and a Calendar (RM)
  229. -------------------------------------------
  230. You can get rid of the clock in the Systray using the Resources
  231. Monitor. RM is a very small utility, sets OnTop viewing the
  232. time and monitor resources.

  234. RSFM shows free System, User and GDI resources, gages will turn
  235. yellow if free resources becomes less than 34% and
  236. turn red if drops below 16%.
  237. Also shows SwapFile usage which is the percentage of the swap file
  238.  
  239. Win386.swp size compared to the free hard disk space the file is located in.
  240. Shows size of the Win386.swp file and the percentage of the free
  241. drive space.
  242. Right click Resource Meter and select Help for more info.

  244. Stay On Top
  245. -----------
  246. Click Options\Release Stay On Top to release from being on Top.
  247. Click Options\Double vertical to view two vertical pages.
  248. Click Options\Double horizontal to view two horizontal pages.
  249. Click Options\Single page to view a single page, it will retain

  251.  text in the hidden text window until you clear it.
  252. Click Options\Insert line marker or Options\Remove line marker.

  255. Opens and saves Text or RTF files to the first text window which is the 
  256. main page, the top one if showing two horizontal pages and the left one

  260. Opens or saves Text or RTF files to the second text window which is the
